The People Behind Yarmouth Carnival Committee

The Committee Behind The Events

Yarmouth is a unique place, not only one of the smallest towns in the UK, but being a harbour town attracts visitors from far and wide. The town is a small close-knit community and for a such a small place hold an amazing number of events from the pancake races on Shrove Tuesday to the Carnival Week in August.

So, who organises these events? It is the Yarmouth Carnival Committee. We are a small committee but we have an army of volunteers without whom, we could not put on the annual events. So, if you want to get involved, contact us – this can involve everything from manning the marquee in Carnival Week to catching children as they race back across the Square with their frying pans and pancakes!

Perhaps one of the most well-known events is the annual firework display. As with all our events, this has been free but as you can imagine the costs run into thousands and it is getting more and more difficult to sustain financially. We rely solely on local support and collections and the Yarmouth Carnival Committee need you!
Behind every successful event is an army of wonderful volunteers. From setting up marquees to helping with children's activities, from selling raffle tickets to serving refreshments - our volunteers are the true heroes of the carnival.
